Vibration analysis as a guarantee for mission safety
Satellites are subjected to severe dynamic stresses during launch in carrier rockets or space shuttles, which they must withstand. If individual components of a satellite were to come loose during launch, it could have catastrophic consequences for the payload, which usually costs several hundred million euros. It is therefore imperative that every satellite, no matter how small, undergoes meticulous vibration testing.
Such tests are preferably carried out on vibration test systems or, as in this case, on an electrodynamic shaker. Suitable control systems can generate the required vibration levels. For verification, the generated test vibrations are measured using additional vibration sensors.
