Vibration testing of a small satellite

When launched in launch vehicles or space shuttles, satellites are exposed to strong dynamic stresses that they must withstand. If individual parts of a satellite were to become detached during launch, this would have catastrophic consequences for cargo that is usually worth several hundred million euros. It is therefore imperative that every satellite, no matter how small, is subjected to a meticulous vibration test. Such investigations are preferably carried out on vibration testing systems or, as in this case, on an electrodynamic shaker. The required vibration levels can be generated using suitable control systems. For verification, the test vibrations generated are measured with additional vibration sensors.
