A bounce-free and reproducible excitation of the test structure is indispensable for a large number of test scenarios. To solve this, MAUL-THEET has developed the vImpact automatic modal-impulse hammer product family. These ensure precise, bounce-free excitation and reliable measurement of the excitation forces. Setting up the impulse hammer position is quick and easy thanks to the hammer’s updated actuator principle and simple operation. The model series differ in the frequency range, the maximum excitation force and are therefore ideal for different areas of application.

If not set up correctly, the load cell is also loaded in the transverse direction. The load cells are designed for measuring in the axial direction. Transverse forces that occur are not measured.
In the case of a non-perpendicular impact, the test object is excited obliquely and the perpendicularly acting impact force is unknown.
When operating an automatic modal hammer, accurate setup of the hammer is important to obtain good transfer functions.
To do this, the tip of the hammer must hit the measurement object at a right angle. In this case, the load cell is loaded axially and guarantees that the force is transmitted correctly.
The new vImpact-63 and vImpact-2003 have a set-up mode in which the hammers move to impact position. In this position, correct alignment of the automatic modal hammers is very easy.
